BSC Engineer ¨C Digicel Pacific
Primary objective of the job:
The main purpose of the position is to provide effective and efficient technical support for the various nodes, to test and implement new software and hardware.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Network Elements (BSC, TRC, PCU, RBS)
A. Use trends to plan for expansion
B. Implement new and upgraded software and hardware.
C. Perform preventative maintenance
D. Perform corrective maintenance.
E. Design Implementation and change request preparation for Operations
F. The creation of network diagrams
G. Implement Office data change
H. Conduct presentation
I. To ensure that adequate capacity is available at all times across all functioning adjacent interconnects.
J. Capacity modeling and monitoring to ensure switch infrastructure supports network growth and provision of all services
K. Identify and implement Network Optimisation, extensions and enhancements
L. Engineering Support to other teams, primarily, Transmission, Marketing, NOC, IT and Customer Care.
M. Responsible for planning, design, engineering and implementation of the BSS layer of cellular network to ensure support growth of subscriber base and offered services.
N. Contribute to technical reviews and design.
O. Keep accurate records of all events and system configuration.
P. Liaise with Supplier and External Support team.
Q. Prepare DT guidelines for the Islands.
R. Provide Technical support for the Islands as required.
S. Provide standby support for the network elements.
T. Perform Backup for BSC/APG40 nodes.
U. Perform weekly checks on the power plant.
V. Keep track of spares for the BSC.
Skills Required:
A. A degree/diploma in Electrical\Electronics Engineering or Computer Science
B. 2 - 3 yrs Experience in the Telecommunication industry of which at least two in a BSS/NSS/OSS environment

Switch Engineer
Primary objective of the job:
The main purpose of the position is to provide effective and efficient technical support for the various nodes, to test and implement new software and hardware, And using trends to plan and implement expansion(s) within the Digicel network. It is also to implement and test using GSM standards new roaming partners on our network.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: (maximum of 8)
1. Roaming
a. Administration
Keep an inventory of all sim cards received from the Roaming partners and those distributed to the Islands.
b. Technical
Establish SCCP routing for new Partners.
c. Perform routine Ireg testing to ensure that our roaming partners can access our network.
d. Modify network routing base on changes Roaming Partners IR21 changes
e. Resolve issues surrounding roaming on the other Islands.
f. Perform test based on Roaming PartnerĄ¯s request.
g. Restore/reprocess and re-transfer CDRs upon request from IT.

2. Billing Gateway (BGw)
a. Integrate new Digicel Network on the BGw.
b. Perform a daily CDR reconciliation with the Billing team.
c. Perform reconciliation of raw CDRs files with all Islands.

3. Service Order Gateway (SOG)
a. Load new number ranges for Jamaica and all other islands (Digicel Networks)
b. Load AUC with new subscriptions.
c. Integrate other Islands on the SOG.

4. Network Elements (MSC, BSC, SCP, HLR & BitBoss)
a. Prepare DT guidelines for the Islands.
b. Provide supports for the Islands in routing and billing configuration.
c. Perform SS7 routing for the Islands.
d. Perform IMSI/SIM testing for new Digicel Network.
e. Provide Technical support for the Islands as required.

Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
a.A degree/diploma in Electrical\Electronics Engineering or Computer Science
b.2 - 3 yrs Experience in the Telecommunication industry of which at least two in a Switching environment
c.At least 6 months experience in Statistical Analysis
IP Engineer ¨C Jamaica
Key Responsibilities include:
a. The design, installation and support of all IP based systems to support the technical operations of the business.
b. The operation and maintenance of all IP based systems, which include CISCO Network devices, SUN Solaris servers and other devices to ensure their high availability
c. The operation and maintenance of all IP based services, including Checkpoint firewall policy management, IP traffic management utilising VLANs and routing protocols (RIP, OSPF), also DNS, web PROXY, and NTP applications.
d. Providing on-call support for after hour outages & planned works, including creation and submission of required forms.
e. Providing proactive support of WAN data and voice links (VSAT, leased lines) to provide 100% availability of all IP services, including VoIP, ITP (SS7 over IP) and internet, and to ensure continued connectivity to other Digicel locations and external parties.
f. Assisting in the design, development & implementation of all new IP based systems
g. Ensuring adherence with IP Security Group (Jamaica) standards and policies as they relate to new and existing LAN and WAN network infrastructure, IP traffic, and network configuration procedures.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
a. 4 -5 years experience in IP based network design, implementation and administration
b. Solid hands on experience with Cisco devices
c. In-depth knowledge of switching, routing, LAN and WAN technologies.
d. Hands on experience with UNIX and/or Linux systems to support applications such as Bind, Squid and NTP
e. Design, implementation and operational knowledge of network security (VPN, firewall management, intrusion detection)
f. A Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent field
g. CISCO Certification a plus
